Hi all,

I am the other Ben (Ben Holness), I am from Maidenhead, but most people think I live in London, because I am there so often dancing ;)

Self Employed IT etc etc etc I have been travelling to lots of dance camps and can totally recommend it :) If you have never been to one before, it's worth saving up and going to one. Look for the teachers that inspire you as a way to choose a camp. European camps tend to be the same price or less than UK camps as you will normally be hosted, hence no accomodation costs and flights are sooooo cheap now!

If you have never asked me to dance, what's stopping you? ;)

Ben

Hey I am Francois,

Been dancing and living in London for 7 years (Note : Dancing came naturally before living) .

I have made my way from being an Electrician to be building Engineer. I had to slow down dancing for few years as my hours spent at work was too intense.

Will be hopfully back on form this year.

I have build up a acceptable collection of film and other kind of informations since 7 years. Don't hesitate to ask me anything.

Hey guys,

Well I am Vicky and I have been dancing for about 4 years now started when at uni in sheffield and I am now in Edinburgh, was very happy when i moved here and discovered there was a really good friendly Swing scene.

Have got more involved in the scene over the past few months and am involved in Edinbop, as the secretary no less!

loving the site think it is a brill idea to have a central message board, but where is everybody from outside London! come on I know you are there waiting in the wings, introduce yourselves and we will all have a great time!!

*Autumn hugs everybody to show her love and appreciation*

xxx

Hiya
I'm Fiona, I live in Hertfordshire and work as a self employed Garden Designer. I have been dancing for just over two years. I finally managed to get my husband - Joe- along to classes at the beginning of the year, he was reluctant at first but now loves it and wishes he had started when I did. Now that we are both dancing we are starting to get out and about a bit more to events further afield. So hopefully we may get to meet some of you out and about.

Hey everyboby, good to see that so many people have signed up already!

I'm Jonathan, and I live in Edinburgh. I started Swing dancing in Sept 2004 with the Edinburgh University Swing Dance Society beginning to learn Lindy Hop first and then Balboa in November. Having never danced anything before, partner dancing was quite a scary prospect. I finally made it onto the social floor at about Christmas and things just started from there. Despite taking a 6 month break (during which time I could hardly walk) I have continued to love the music and the dancing as much as when I started.

Though I started Lindy Hop first, Balboa is my preferred dance and in both I love to follow as much as lead. I look forward to meeting more dancers around the UK, and if you do meet me, please ask me to dance (guys too).

Toodle-oo

Jonathan

Hello,

I'm Haydn, and I live in SE London. I've been dancing for just over 3 years. I originally trained in music, and have got back into music through dancing, which I started after seeing a group of London swing dancers dancing near Gabriels Wharf by the Thames on a summer sunday evening in July 2003. It looked so much fun, I decided to try it.

My focus is particularly on the music, and as well as this website, I can be found on http://www.swingdjs.com/phpbb2/ discussing swing music. For me, the old 30s music is the best, but the problem is there is a limited amount of it, and the sound quality of the recordings is often poor. I'm interested in using modern digital sound tools to create new swing music - if you're interested in this too, get in touch!

Where did you get that hat?
People sometimes ask me where I get my hats. (I like flexible hats that can be worn in different ways - allowing me to be creative. They have to be big too to fit my head.)

Some of them are from Marks and Spencer, purchased in summer 2005 from their 'Blue Harbour' range. These ones are cotton sun hats with brims. I cut the brim off, to make a round shape and turn them inside and out to make different styles.

In late 2005 I was in Oakland in California, and I passed a shop called 'The Hat Guys' http://www.hatguys.com/retail.cfm near the huge old 30s art deco cinema called 'The Paramount Theater' http://www.paramounttheatre.com/exterior1.html I bought about 7 hats in there. Two leather ones that are nice, but too hot for much dancing, and some lighter fabric ones which I do wear dancing. I think The Hat Guys sell online too - I might have a look if I want to add to my collection!

Haydn
