A Musical
Two North East women are combining their talents for a wonderful night of music, song and dance at the Washington Arts Centre on Friday 20th July.
Vocalist Anna Reay has a passion for singing and for bringing live music back into the culture of the North East. Joo-Lee has a passion for dance and for reviving its social image through the exciting swing dance, ’Lindy-Hop’ . Both have made music their business and it was through the business club ‘Women into the Network’ that they met. They are looking for ways in which their two businesses can support each other and the event on 20th July is the first step in this new collaboration.
The highly acclaimed Anna Reay Band delivers an amazing collection of jazz, swing and blues. Anna performs songs by such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Ray Charles and many more and is ably backed up by some of the region’s finest musicians, Steve McKie – Keyboard and Organ, Neil Harland – Double Bass, Stu Haikney - Drums, Martin Peel – Saxophone.
On this occasion there will be special guest performance to ‘In the Mood’ from the 'Lindy Jazz' Jazz team, Andy, Joo-Lee, Glenn & Claire .
Joo-Lee has been delivering Beginners ‘Lindy Jazz’ classes at Washington Arts Centre so this will be an opportunity for her students to really show how much they have learned as they dance the night away to the ‘Anna Reay Band’
